My Husband's G G Grandfather was Henry Emery married to Mary Stone. They had a son James and two Daughters, Hannah Emery Married Joseph Ling and Phoebe married Robert Girling, well known families They both lived in the village and each had a large Family. My interest in Stradbroke is obviously to carry on researching the family. I visited the village about two years ago, what a beautiful place - you lucky people able to live there. I find the web site very interesting and helpful.

Hello Barbara,
Your GG Grandfather was my GGG Grandfather through Hannah Emery who married Joseph Ling to Frederick Ling, Edgar Roberts Ling, and finally my father, David Ling.
Would be very interesting in comparing family trees!
We now live in New York and it is difficult doing personal research from this distance.
Hannah Emery and Joseph Ling were my Great grandparents on my mothers side. Their son Daniel went to London and married May Knight in 1897. My mother Alice Ling was born in Camden Town and later moved to Harold Wood, Essex where she married William Robert Chapman. I too visited the village a few years ago when I did some research and found out where I was from. I will try to post a family tree diagram on my page in a few days. regards Mike
Hi Barbara! Welcome to the new Stradbroke Website!
A really nice feature of this new website is that you can customise your own information page! When you 'sign in' you might notice the menu at the top of the page changes and a new item called 'My Page' appears. This is what it says - a page for you!
You can change the 'theme' (colours and patterns) for your page very easily (look at the menu on the left) - and most importantly - put up a 'photo' to replace the village sign silhouette that comes up by default! It'd be great to see a photo, but some people prefer to use a cartoon, or a picture of something that represents their interests.
Your 'My Page' is good place to put a little information about yourself - eg family history research interests so other members can see it, and maybe share info with you! This is also the page where you can share photographs too - it would be lovely to see pictures of the village for example, old or new!
Have a play with it and have a look at what others have done with their 'My Page' by clicking on 'Members' in the menu!
Most of all though, 'Welcome' we're pleased you've joined and hope you find the site enjoyable.
