A tribute as a fellow cricketer - from Stephen Warner

James Grigg was a talented cricketer, and will be warmly remembered as much for his smile and character off the pitch as for his fight on the pitch.

After joining the club as a 10-year-old, he progressed quickly through the Junior ranks and into the Senior ranks. If you needed someone to help you out, James was always there.

The need for funding never goes away, and so, back by popular demand, is our 10th annual Horse Race Night. This is the chance for you to invite your friends to become a part of the Stradbroke Cricket Club family, and to take some of their hard-earned cash from them to allow the club to continue.

VACANCY

STRADBROKE Cricket Club require an assistant to their overworked groundsman. Duties include some grass cutting, pitch preparation & maintenance. Would suit an active retired person, or someone younger looking to start a career path. This is a voluntary position, but the Club will pay to attend locally-run, 1-day Institute of Groundsmen courses in spring & autumn. Interested? CHAIRMAN’S REPORT – 2009

Stradbroke Cricket Club is on the verge of it’s 30th Anniversary, and much has happened to the Club in those three decades, but it is nothing compared to the progress made in the last 12 months. After what seemed like 30 years of discussion, the drainage of the Playing Field has finally taken place, aided by a sizeable grant from the ECB, a direct benefit of being a Clubmark Focus Club. The 2010 season is not far away, so we’ve organised some winter training for all our squads, as follows:

Girls – from 11th January 2010
Mondays
SBEC – 18:00-19:00 (through 29th March)
£1 per person per session

U13s upwards – from 14th February 2010
Sundays
Thomas Mills High School – 15:30-17:00
through 28th March
£2 per person per session
