I would be delighted if White Christmas is played. It brings back happy memories of seeing the film that it was in, and of a real White Christmas. Was there one in 1981? There certainly was in 1970.

Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year to everybody.

David Streeter.

Could I request you play a REAL Golden Oldie (White Christmas or the like), on Christmas day for the Stradbroke people who can go back to before WWII, Say the 30’s? They will remember a pretty girl called Nancy Mayhew, her Brother Arthur and sister Edner. Some may even remember their Mother Annie; she was the village Midwife and brought most of your Grand or Great Grandparents into this World!
They may also remember Bill Barber (Didler) and his missing fingers, driving a horse and cart from pub to pub, he eventually married Winifred Barber, our friend and yet another professional Midwife from the outskirts of London. They lived on the edge of the village. Nancy is my Mother, Winifred my Midwife, we lived in Barkingside.
They are all gone now, but not forgotten, love never dies. Say a few words for Absent Friends and Loved ones, we all have a few, but these ones are very special to me.
Kindest Regards and Seasons Greetings (to the Ghosts of Christmas past, and now)

Thanks in advance, I hope you can fit some of this in, it will help people; remember.

Hi David! Welcome to the new Stradbroke Website!

A really nice feature of this new website is that you can customise your own information page! When you 'sign in' you might notice the menu at the top of the page changes and a new item called 'My Page' appears. This is what it says - a page for you!
You can change the 'theme' (colours and patterns) for your page very easily (look at the menu on the left) - and most importantly - put up a 'photo' to replace the village sign silhouette that comes up by default! It'd be great to see a photo, but some people prefer to use a cartoon, or a picture of something that represents their interests.

Your 'My Page' is good place to put a little information about yourself - eg your village interests so other members can see it, and maybe share info with you! This is also the page where you can share photographs too - it would be lovely to see pictures of the village for example, old or new!

Have a play with it and have a look at what others have done with their 'My Page' by clicking on 'Members' in the menu!

Most of all though, 'Welcome' we're pleased you've joined and hope you find the site enjoyable.
