Charlotte Edwards to present awards

One of the highlights of Stradbroke’s cricket season is the AGM followed by the Annual Presentation Evening. Our last five guest speakers have been Devon Malcolm, Ronnie Irani, Ravi Bopara, Paul Grayson, and James Foster.



This year, our guest speaker will be Charlotte Edwards, England Captain.

Under Charlotte’s captaincy, England have won the Ashes, The Twenty/20 World Cup and the 50-over World Cup. On her debut, Charlotte was the youngest woman ever to play for England.… Continue

Stradbroke Cricket Club AGM

Fundraising vouchers

You may or may not know that the Youth Section, mainly through the good offices of parents, collected almost 1,500 Tesco vouchers with which we were able to buy some much-needed equipment. Well done. If there is another Tesco campaign with vouchers for sports equipment over the winter, please make sure you collect the vouchers and give them either to Steve Bacon or Scott Turner. Many thanks.

Drainage project

As you will have noticed, the contractor has started work on the playing fields. Most of the work has been done, but the project is not quite completed. Ironically, because, at the time of writing, the ground is so hard, the next step, which is verti-draining (posh word for making holes in the ground so the water can run into the drains), has had to be put on hold until we get some rain to soften the ground.

Stradbroke Cricket Club on the web

It’s time even for you old-timers (yes, I mean you, Billy) to get yourselves a cheap computer and Internet access. As well as a Facebook group and a stats web site, both set up by Steve Warner (web meister), we have a page on Stradbroke Village’s web site (which is probably a little less scary for novices than Facebook).
