Charlotte Edwards to present awards
One of the highlights of Stradbroke’s cricket season is the AGM followed by the Annual Presentation Evening. Our last five guest speakers have been Devon Malcolm, Ronnie Irani, Ravi Bopara, Paul Grayson, and James Foster.
This year, our guest speaker will be Charlotte Edwards, England Captain.
Under Charlotte’s captaincy, England have won the Ashes, The Twenty/20 World Cup and the 50-over World Cup. On her debut, Charlotte was the youngest woman ever to play for England. She averages 46 in test matches, 36.53 in ODIs, and 42.91 in T20Is.
Charlotte is joining us on SATURDAY 24th OCTOBER at STRADBROKE COMMUNITY CENTRE. After the AGM at 6:45pm, Charlotte will be answering questions from 7:30pm onwards, and will present the club awards at 9pm.
There will be awards for Player of the Year for 1st XI, A & B Team, Academy, U15, U13, U11, and Girls. As last year, there will also be awards for the leading run scorers and wicket takers for the 1st XI, the A Team and the B team. Furthermore, the Most Improved Player for each junior side will receive an award, based on coaches’ recommendations.
Because a guest speaker costs money, we have to make a charge of £5 per adult, £2 per junior, or £12 for a family of 4 or more. There will be a buffet at 8:30pm, and, as usual, we’re asking you to bring something edible with you on the night. If you want to make offers of food, please ring Carrie Barnes on 01379 388654.
There will be a raffle, so any prize donations would be really very handy indeed. If you have any, please bring them with you on the day.
