Graham Thorpe to present awards at Presentation Night

One of the highlights of Stradbroke’s cricket season is the AGM followed by the Annual Presentation Evening. Our last six guest speakers have been Charlotte Edwards, James Foster, Paul Grayson, Ravi Bopara, Ronnie Irani, and Devon Malcolm.

This year, our guest speaker will be Graham Thorpe, ex-England batsman with over 100 caps. Graham is joining us on SATURDAY 23rd OCTOBER at STRADBROKE COMMUNITY CENTRE. After the AGM at 6:45pm, Graham will be answering questions from 7:30pm onwards, and will present the club awards at 9pm.

Graham has just been appointed as England’s lead batting coach. He scored 6,744 runs for England at an average of 44.66. At county level, he represented Surrey, scoring 21,937 runs at 45.04.

There will be awards for Player of the Year for 1st XI, A & B Team, Academy, U15, U13, U11, and Girls. As last year, there will also be awards for the leading run scorers and wicket takers for the 1st XI, the A Team and the B team. Furthermore, the Most Improved Player for each junior side will receive an award, based on coaches’ recommendations.

Because a guest speaker costs money, we have to make a charge of £5 per adult, £2 per junior, or £12 for a family of 4 or more. There will be a buffet at 8:30pm, and, as usual, we’re asking you to bring something edible with you on the night.
