Dear Parents/Carers
My final newsletter for a while- with a few pieces of news to update you about.
The Outdoor Infant Play Area We had a few teething problems with this which you might have noticed! When the resurfacing was laid it was too high and subsequently the doors in the spare classroom could not open fully! This problem has now been sorted out and we can now exit the classroom. Parents collecting children attending the Premier Sport football club on Thursdays after school can now collect pupils from this door and shelter under our new canopy or in the spare classroom.
Headlice I am receiving reports that some children have headlice again. These need to be treated as soon as possible to prevent other pupils becoming infected.
Snape Maltings Class 4 have been invited to take perform in “A Celebration of School Music” at Snape Maltings Concert Hall. This is a very exciting opportunity for the children who will be taking part in a music concert inside a real theatre. I wish all the children lots of luck and look forward to hearing all about it. This will take place on Friday 13th of March.
Nestle box top tokens We are collecting these and usually manage to get some new reading books each year. Please send tokens to the office if you have any, they will be gratefully received.
Edale Thank you to all the parents who attended the presentation on the Edale trip. It promises to be a really enjoyable event and if you have any further questions about this please don’t hesitate to ask. Final payments need to be made by the end of February. If this causes any problems please don’t hesitate to chat to either myself or Mrs Read.
Lost Property We have a large accumulation of lost property again. Please do come and have a look to see if any of it belongs to your child/children. Any property that is unclaimed by half-term will be disposed of. Any school clothes which are in a good condition will be washed and offered for sale.
Tea Towels Friends of Stradbroke Primary School still have a stock of the wonderful school tea towels for sale at the very reasonable cost of £3.00 each. These incorporate the children’s drawings of themselves, plus drawings of the staff. Every child that was on roll in September 2008 is included. If you would like to purchase any tea towels please order them from Mrs Read in the school office, or speak to Michelle Phillips of FOSPS in the playground.
School Photographs A photographer is coming on Tuesday 24th February to take individual and family group photos. Every child will have an individual photo taken, but if you would like a family group please complete the attached slip and return it to Mrs Read in the school office. Pre-school children are welcome to join their older siblings and we will start with groups involving these children just after 9.00am.
Morrisons “Let’s Grow” tokens A huge thank you to all of you that sent in tokens for this promotion. We have put in an order for a small walk-in greenhouse (with polythene sides), a hose on a reel, some seed trays, compost and seeds. We should take delivery of these sometime in March.
And finally…… half term is nearly upon us and as you know I will be taking Maternity Leave from then. I just wanted to say a big thank you to all parents and Governors who have been so supportive since I arrived at the school. I will be returning to school in the Summer Term (on 29th of June). Until then take good care of yourselves and the children. I will look forward to seeing you all again soon.
Mrs M. Barrow
