We all have junk that we think is only worthy of the dump. Well here’s your chance to have a big summer clear out and at the same time help to raise funds for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices Treehouse Appeal.
Sunday August 8th will see the whole of Suffolk taking part in a massive de-clutter with a series of car boot sales across the county- the focal point being a huge family event and monster car boot sale at the Trinity Park Showground in Ipswich. This major BBC Radio Suffolk event is part of the ongoing efforts to raise £3 million for a new children’s hospice for EACH and hopes to involve every car booter and bargain hunter in Suffolk.
The idea was the brainchild of the James Hazell show when producer Sally Burch got fed up of the junk that was accumulating in her garage. Together with presenter James Hazell, they joined forces with the staff at Trinity Park, car boot sale organisers Shandale and the EACH fundraising office to formulate the Big Summer De-Clutter. James said: “This is a win, win situation. Guests on the show are always telling us people need to de-clutter. Well we can all do just that - and make a substantial contribution to the fantastic Treehouse Appeal at the same time. It will also stop Sal whingeing about the state of her garage!”
Sal added: “The Big Summer De-Clutter is the perfect solution to all those hidden treasures that have been locked away in the loft or garage gathering dust.” The Big Summer De-Clutter will run from 7am until 3pm on August 8 at Trinity Park Showground in Ipswich. Patsy Johnson, EACH capital appeal fundraiser, said: “The Big Summer De-Clutter is a great concept which will raise funds, bring people together and raise the profile of the EACH Treehouse Appeal across the region.” A total of 500 pitches are available at a cost of £10 each, which will go directly to the Treehouse Appeal, and can be booked by contacting Patsy: 01473 276115 Patsy.johnson@each.org.uk Even if you don’t have a stall at the event you can still do your bit to support the appeal by donating your unwanted items to EACH, which can be sold in EACH shops or recycled to raise funds. The de-clutter event will also host a family funday- so there will be something for everyone- entry- Adults £1, children free.
