Why not stand for election to the Parish Council?

All thirteen seats on Stradbroke Parish Council are up for re-election on Thursday 7th May 2015 in a contest that looks set to be much more interesting than the General Election to be held on the same day! Unlike most years it seems almost certain there will actually need to be a parish council election this year so why not consider standing yourself?

If you live or work in Stradbroke, are 18 or over and are on the Electoral Register you should be eligible to stand, you can check the eligibility guide to be sure.

To stand for election is simple. You just need to fill in a form, get a proposer and seconder who are Stradbroke residents aged 18 or older on the electoral register to sign and ensure it is handed in to the District Council by the closing date which is 4pm on Thursday 9th April.

You can download a form online or pick up one in Stradbroke Library.

Once completed you need to hand in your form in person (you can't post or email it) at Mid Suffolk District Council, 131 High Street, Needham Market IP6 8DL

If you have your form ready on or before Tuesday 31st March you can leave it at Stradbroke Library if you choose to and Carol Smy the Parish Clerk will hand deliver it to Mid Suffolk District Council.

To complete your form you will need the "electoral register number" of your proposer and seconder (and in certain circumstances yourself). You can obtain the numbers from:

Carol Smy, Parish Clerk - clerkspc@thesmys.com - Tel 07817 441195
Emily Yule, Mid Suffolk District Council - emily.yule@midsuffolk.gov.uk or electoralservices@midsuffolk.gov.uk - Tel 01449 724694
